about

My Grandfather fought with the Seaforth Highlanders in a small Italian village in 1943. It was one of World War II's bloodiest battles in such a small geographic space. If the Americans had been there, there would have been multiple Hollywood films made about it but there was only Canadian and Nazi troops.

The town was destroyed. My Grandfather busted though the connecting walls of the houses to gain ground and evade snipers. My grandfather did and saw horrible things that he kept to himself most of his life and only alluded to in his later years.

I never knew him as a praying man, but I imagine him on Christmas Eve praying to a God I'm not sure he believing in.

lyrics

Green eyes and a setting sun.
Three days before we're dead or done.
Look at my hands
what have I done?
I could not know

Offer this eternal peace,
that if our bodies bury
here underneath,
that we would rise with you,
our sin washed clean,
with perfect blood

Halleluiah

I look at my hands;
the things that I've done.
I trust when He says,
"It's finished, it's done"
I look to his hands,
the things that he's done.
What my sacrifice lacks
he'll finish with his.
